Emotional Dialogue:
From Conflict to Agreement
Help people feel heard. Build trust. Find a way forward together.
Program overview
Most workplace and personal conflicts stall because people do not listen until they feel truly heard. Emotional Dialogue is a practical, step-by-step facilitation method developed by Pepe Nummi. It provides a structured pathway to move beyond rigid positions, build trust, and turn emotional friction into collaborative action.
This facilitator-guided online program breaks the method into four focused weekly sessions. You will practise with fellow participants, receive feedback, and prepare to apply what you learn in your own conversations.
Who is it for?
Leaders, managers, HR professionals, and teams looking to handle high-stakes resistance and build lasting workplace agreements.
What you will learn
- Identify the root psychological reasons why high-stakes conversations break down before they start.
- Deploy structured verbal steps to lower interpersonal defensiveness and build immediate trust.
- Uncover the hidden needs and true interests driving someone else’s visible stance or opposition.
- Structure presentations and proposals that directly balance shared outcomes and convert resistance into clear commitments.
Your four-week programme
What is Emotional Dialogue & Creating a Positive Impression
Explore a live conflict case, discover the structure of Emotional Dialogue, and practise Step 1 (Me): sharing observations together with positive emotions so the other person feels valued and ready to listen.
Creating an Emotional Connection & Finding True Interests
Practise Step 2 (You): affirming the other person’s identity and mirroring their emotions so they feel fully heard. Look beneath defensive arguments to uncover their core motivations and needs.
Making a Proposal & Dealing with Concerns
Make proposals that respect both sides’ core needs, anticipate objections, and respond to active or passive resistance without escalating tension.
Case Practice & Integration
Apply the process in realistic conflict simulations, receive peer and facilitator feedback, and prepare for upcoming conversations in your own workplace.
